And her name is G’Winveer Farrell. If you were like me you didn’t see that little twist coming on the season finale of Outsiders until it bit you on the ass. I knew G’Win had something dastardly planned for Big Foster so it didn’t surprise me at all she was poisoning him. In fact, I had started to suspect that to be the case a few episodes prior.
What I hadn’t put together was G’Win was positioning herself to take over as Bren’in. All this time I had just assumed that Asa would eventually take over. Shows what I get for assuming things. I’m actually a little embarrassed that it didn’t cross my mind once that G’Win would even want to be Bren’in.
But perhaps that’s what the writers wanted. Maybe that was their plan all along. Crafty little devils those writers are. All this time we thought we were watching a love story unfold when really we were watching a Queen take her place as a leader of men.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the first season of Outsiders, it’s not to take G’Winveer Farrell (played by the stunningly talented Gillian Alexy) for a fool. And if Asa or the probably not dead Big Foster knows what’s good for them they won’t either.
Outsiders returns to the WGN in early 2017.
