In the Shameless episode “Paradise Lost” fan favorite character Mandy Milkovich popped back up into our lives and reminded us all how much we love her. When Mandy first showed up in our lives she set off a chain of events none of us saw coming and forever changed the landscape of the show.
Not bad for a character who isn’t a Gallagher.
During the first season, Mandy Milkovich was played by actress Jane Levy and could arguably be described as bubbly. Or as bubbly as a Milkovich can be. This Mandy was young, full of hope, and lightness, but thanks to being cast as the lead in ABC’s Suburgatory the role of Mandy was recast with British actress Emma Greenwell. When Emma joined the show in season two Mandy became decidedly darker. Gone was the bubbly personality with the random girlfriends who never showed up again and in their place was a sharper wit, a stronger core, and a sadness that never went away.
Until “Paradise Lost” that is. Oh, the sadness was still there, but this time, there was something we’d never seen before, it was mixed with hope.
